Elton John releases tribute albums 'Revamp' and 'Restoration'
Legendary British singer-songwriter Elton John has dropped two star-studded tribute albums with longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin featuring high profile acts. One of the new LPs Revamp: The Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin is a collection of his all time greatest hits with pop and rock orientated stars coming together to tackle the Piano Man's beloved tracks.
The album features artists like Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age and Mary J. Blige, all of which have put their own spin on John's most memorable songs. The second record Restoration was curated by Taupin and consists of country-styled covers, with the LP featuring Miley Cyrus, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and more.
In a press release statement John said, "It's always a huge compliment when an artist loves your song enough to take the time and effort to rework it".
"As songwriters, Bernie and myself are thrilled when singers we admire and respect as much as those on Revamp and Restoration choose to add their own unique twist in the process. It means that our music is still relevant and ultimately that our songs continue to reach new audiences. We're humbled and thank them all for their generosity".
The records come off the back of the 71-year-old's announcement that he will be retiring from touring after his upcoming international farewell leg, which will see him visit five continents with more than 300 shows played before its conclusion in 2021.
